For nearly 30 years, Unifloor Underlay Systems from the Netherlands has been an established name in the field of underlay products. In partnership with MTD Solutions Ltd Unifloor offer appropriate solutions for almost all flooring concepts imaginable, in both living and working environments. Our products have been specifically engineered and designed to meet the challenges of reducing impact and airborne sound in multi-storey buildings. Imagine the sound from footfall heard in the room itself and in underlying and adjacent rooms. This noise represents the biggest nuisance in apartment buildings and office blocs! That is why worldwide, building regulations and guidelines concerning sound reduction are getting stricter all the time.
In general, most underlay products on the market today do not precisely address the issues of adequate sound insulation and therefore do not carry proper certification. The MTD-Unifloor certified and approved Sound Reducing Underlay Systems are engineered, designed and manufactured for all kinds of finished floor coverings and most substrate situations. Our product range also includes sophisticated dry smoothing systems for both new build and renovations and pre fabricated power floated floor systems. All systems are quick and easy to install, which results in a huge amount of construction time saved.
Furthermore, we produce products which are sustainable and Eco friendly. For this aspect we have been assessed and certified for meeting the requirements in the chain of custody of the Forest Stewardship Council (certificate number SGS-COC-1068).
In short, we provide proven field and laboratory tested solutions for floor build-ups in wood frame, metal pan and concrete construction, meeting for instance the most recent revision of Part E of the British Building Regulations and the American HUD Grade I and II impact isolation building requirements. The laboratory tests concerning the sound-reducing qualities are carried out in accordance with the latest standards, the BS-EN-ISO 140-8 / 717-2 and BRL 2007. This means that during testing the entire test floor ( base floor, underlay and finished floor covering) of at least 10 m2 is weighted with approximately 23 kg per m2, in order to accurately simulate a furnished room. Under these circumstances inferior underlay will show a loss of their already limited smoothing and sound reducing abilities.
